3) Carrie Mae and her siblings as children, with her parents, Thomas Edward and Adelia Putnam Sallee. Note the child (listed as #10) of Thomas's first wife, Mary Elizabeth Woodward (1845-1862), who was born and died in 1862.

ReplyDeletebook by Jack Dalton Bailey 1992 which has among other things: Luther Carter Putnam, Adelia b: 10/5/1846. (Bailey WAS from Mercer Co KY which has MANY Sallee's) He was a stickler for correctness!!
Thank you for your comment. I have the same book that you mention. Regarding the middle name of Luther Charles Putnam, husband of Lucy Ewell Putnam, I would refer you to the affadavit signed by Lucy which shows Charles written out as his middle name (p. 292) reproduced in the book Putnam-Lester Family Line and written again as Charles on pp. 293 & 294. The footnote for p. 295 indicates there is a will for Luther Charles Putnam probated in 1900, but I haven't been able to find it yet. Sources indicate Adelia's birth was 5 Oct. 1845, 1846 or 1847. I'm not aware of primary sources documenting her birth year.
